Sixth Panel (Third Voice Box): Hi, I am Nurse Rodriguez. There are many things you can do to reduce your children's exposure to lead. First, wash their hands frequently, especially before they eat. A common way children get lead in their bodies is when lead dust gets on their hands and then they put their fingers in their mouth. Second, learn to clean your home in a way that gets the lead dust up. A damp dusting and wet mopping technique works best. Just sweeping and vacuuming will not get the lead dust up it just spreads it around. Third, feed your children nutritious foods that are rich in iron and calcium, it may help prevent them from absorbing lead into their bodies. Lead poisoning is preventable and there is a lot you can do to stop your child from getting poisoned.
