The Story Board Exhibit on The Healthy Heart is designed for children between 5 and 15 years of age. The exhibit is ideally suited for educating children in public venues such as schools, daycare centers, hospitals, clinics and health fair events. The Story Board Exhibit on The Healthy Heart has a simple threefold message which is introduced by a friendly canine character called "Sport".
At the beginning of the exhibit, a child is greeted with a message that encourages them to pet Sport on the head and back (he won't bite) and they hear a brief message about Sport's plan to help them have a healthy heart. The exhibit then outlines Sport's three steps to having a healthy heart. The three steps are:
- Exercise daily, at least 30- 60 minutes.
- Don't smoke and avoid second hand smoke.
- Eat healthy foods in the right amounts.
The last message area is a summary of Sport's three steps and an educational material rack where information can be displayed for children to take home. The educational material rack allows you to "customize" the exhibit with information specifically suited for your target audience. It is also one way to obtain measurable outcomes, by counting the amount of material taken.
