Panel Two and Three: Having regular health exams is your first line of defense for managing your diabetes well. Your Physician and other healthcare professional will advise you on which tests are best for you. Some of the tests you should ask your doctor about are: the Hemoglobin A1c test which measures the average of your blood sugar over a three-month period. This test should be done at least two times a year. Also ask about cholesterol testing, high blood pressure exams, kidney tests, eye exams and a foot exam. When you get the results of these exams back ask your Physician and other healthcare professional to help you develop a diabetes management program that is best for you.
