Here are some exercise tips for people with diabetes:
- Set small goals that you can reach and keep
- Test your blood sugar before exercising
- Exercise about 1-3 hours after a meal and not when your insulin is peaking
- Warm-up for 5-10 minutes before exercising
- Carry diabetes identification and have glucose tablets handy
Consistency is very important. Try to get about 30 minutes of exercise a day. You do not have to do it all at one time, break it up into two 15 minute segments, and remember, get advise from your doctor about what type of exercise plan is best for you.
